Item Description

Iron Man 2.0 is here – and Tony Stark isn’t the one who made him! Ezekiel Stane is on the scene and fixated on avenging the death of his father, Obadiah. Every bit as ruthless and ten times as smart, the younger Stane is all five of Stark’s nightmares rolled into one – and his perversion of Stark’s technology into a weapon capable of slaying hundreds of innocents at a time starts the clock ticking on a chess game Iron Man must win! Then, Tony goes on the run from Norman Osborn! Osborn now has all the power he ever wanted minus the most important ingredient, the registration database, which is stored in the only place Stark could guarantee its safe keeping – inside his Extremis-enhanced brain. Collects Invincible Iron Man #1-19.

  1. Mark Douglas says:

I haven’t read an Iron Man comic until this book was published. But Invincible Iron Man Omnibus was a really good read!

Firsly, the story is very light on current Marvel Comics events and can be enjoyed even if all you’ve seen is the Iron Man movies. You would get some more out of it if you have read the ‘Secret Invasion’ trade paperback beforehand, but it’s not required. Basically, all you need to know is that the world doesn’t trust Toney Stark as much as they used to because he was leading the world when all his tech failed during a ‘secret invasion’. The art is excellent! Very high quality and maintained for the whole 19 issues!

  2. Skotti Kimble says:

Honestly, I’ve never been an Iron Man fangirl, I tended to stick to the mystical and mutant side of the Marvel universe. After reading Matt Fraction’s X-Men/Dark Avengers crossover: Utopia X, and his X-Men run, I’ve become a fan of his, so when some friends suggested Invincible Iron Man, I figured, why not.

So seeing the $24 price tag on a $40 omnibus made me go ahead and get it, and let me tell you, even at full price it would have been a great bang for its buck. The art is gorgeous, the story was well paced, and not mired in unnecessary backstory.

Highly recommend this book if you’re an Iron Man fan, and definitely recommending this to anyone wanting to get into the character.

  3. Joshua Roome says:

ivincible iron man under writer matt faction is quite possibly one of the most solid graphic novels i have ever read. coming straight out of marvel civil war most people might not be the biggest fan of iron man/tony stark, this book will show you his side and his remorse to the situation. excellent book great writer… what’s left to say?

  4. Bruce G. West says:

The art and storyline are of the highest quality in this omnibus of the first 19 issues of the invincible iron man.

  5. T. Wehrenberg says:

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and any casual Iron Man fan or longtime fan will as well. Great format, great writing, great artwork. At times the artwork and coloring was stunning- some of the page layouts worthy of framing.

I know this title was launched about the same time as the 2008 Iron Man movie and it shows in a good way. Its hard to say which inspired who as there are many concurrent themes and details that are shared almost as if they co-existed at times.

I particularly like the Dark Rein tie-in “Most Wanted” in the last half of the book. This just kept getting better and better- the cat-and-mouse between Tony and Norman Osborn with the supporting cast of Pepper Pots, Maria Hill, Madam Masque, Crimson Dynamo, and Black Widow. The smallest complaint I had was that while the overall art and layouts were spectacular- Norman Osborn just didn’t look right to me- too young and not crazy enough. Minor nitpick I know but I loved how Mike Deodato draws Norman in Dark Avengers- makes him look like Tommy Lee Jones!
