Iron Man Movie Wave 01.5 : Iron Monger 2 appears to boast an array of articulation similar to that of a Marvel Legends figure. The bulky Iron Monger armor, seemingly based upon the Iron Man Mark I armor, is designed to tower over Iron Man’s Mark III armor. The rounded torso and exaggerated collar give Iron Monger a tortoise-like appearance; arms and legs are encased in scalloped plates and outlined by ponderous hydraulics. Iron Monger’s left arm is joined with a gatling-style gun. The clearest indication of Iron Monger’s evil nature is the fact that the armor has creepy toes. The Iron Monger manifestation signifies Obadiah Stane’s embittered rivalry with his former protege, Tony Stark.

   I just pick this up today @ Toys “R” Us for $10.27 and what a fair price. Mostly anything that is coming out this summer based on film, be it a video game or a toyline, deserves close scrutiny. This is a great figure for the price, and that’s all. He is very well sculpted and has good articulation. Unlike the wave 1 Iron Monger, his legs have a ball-joint to allow complete poseability. Also, the gimmic is pretty cool too. After snapping together the cockpit armor on the figure (2 pieces), it can then be removed in the way very much like in the film. The upper torso folds up and back with the chest then folding down. The chest piece has a white sticker on it rather than a blue or red plastic circle. Obedia Stane’s head has a fairley good likeness with his beard having grain to it, but not as great as Robert Downie Jr.’s face on the Iron Man Proto Type (PT) figure. About the sculpt; it is the same mold as the series one Iron Monger but with a more metallic color and look to it. They also used a black wash to bring out the details in the suit. All of which are points that I like. However, with all of these extras, can make the figure vary in appearance and might look overdone. These can easily bee found at other stores for way less. Besides, you might want to check them out in the store anyway to get the one you really want. Otherwise, go with Amazon. You can’t really go wrong.
